OPA Ortho: Our Philosophy Behind Spine and Neurological Care

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce a new physician to our practice and reaffirm our commitment to exceptionally high standards in neurological and spinal care.

First, we welcome Kyle Kim, M.D. as a board certified neurosurgeon. Dr. Kim specializes in complex brain and spinal conditions with special interest in vascular compression lesions of the brain including trigeminal neuralgia and specialized training and experience in microsurgical techniques.

Secondly, given the recent questions from our patients and referring physicians about our involvement in each surgical case, we would like to emphasize that our neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons personally attend to your patient’s needs to provide the best outcomes, from the beginning to the end. In addition, our surgeons will see each new patient referred for care within one to two weeks for routine spinal indications, and within a day or two for intracranial issues. We are also able to review any urgent imaging sent remotely the same day, which can make the process much quicker for those of our patients that have serious concerns.

It is paramount with all orthopedic and neurosurgical patients to focus on finding an individualized solution to their needs. While many medical issues require surgery, often they may involve a non-operative course. Our goal at OPA is to provide an option that leads to the best outcome for our patients, in an evidence-based manner.

We like to remind our patients and our community that we operate at Swedish Orthopedic Institute, a center of excellence in inpatient orthopedic care. For most outpatient, same-day and ambulatory surgery, we utilize Seattle Surgery Center. It is our physician owned and operated ambulatory surgery center, and is conveniently located within blocks from our office on First Hill.

Our practice is one of the few remaining independent and highly valued physician practices in the Puget Sound. With no competing issues, our attention is focused only on satisfied patients and referring providers: Our practice is viable and healthy mainly due to word of mouth referrals. In fact, our Press Ganey scores indicate that 97.8% of our patients would refer us to their family and friends- and we are proud of that score.
